Early in the 1920s, everything was going great for car manufacturers. High production of vehicles, including Dodge, Chrysler, Riley, Essex, Ford, and Buick models, pushed the prices down. Indeed, in a matter of a few years, the middle class could finally afford to buy an automobile. In Europe, 4-cylinder engines were the norm, while the United States developed larger and heavier cars, often with 6-cylinders ore more.

However, the Great Depression of 1929 brought about great changes. Many people lost all the money they had earned in the good years. But even though there was less demand for automobiles, some people still wanted them and thus automobile manufacturers introduced new, less expensive models for the new decade. Here are some of the models that came out for the post-depression era:

1) Ford Model Y - This Ford Model featured straight four engine, reached a top speed of 57mph, and was built in the UK, France, and Germany. Its affordable price gave Ford the ability to keep the leadership it had held from times before.

2) Adler Trumpf Junior - This was a front-wheel-drive built in Germany, reaching 57mph, and featuring a straight four engine. It sold over 100,000 before World War II and was known as a people's car.

3) Lancia Aprilia - Developed in 1937 in Italy, the Lancia Aprilia featured all-independent suspension, V4-engine, hydraulic brakes, and pillar less doors. Many considered it the most advanced sedan before the war started.
